“Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We’re Abraham’s seed, and we were never in bondage to any man: why do suggest to us that we need to be made free?”

Interesting isn’t it? The first believers described above didn’t comprehend that Jesus was sent to enable them to be free from bondage. They also may not have understood that continuing in the word was the key to further enjoying that freedom.
